Pushing the limits

In which your narrator pushes tests the envelope of both Art of Illusion and himself in pursuit of a printable stepper motor... do you want to read more?

Hi, I realy admire the energy and ideas you are putting into this. nice. I am not clear that the Tigertaler design has differing rates or torques in clockwise/anticlockwise motions. The solenoid displacement is the same in both directions, and the number of steps is identical. the inner ring must thus have 'steeper' thrust angles which compensate for the redused radius?

Another way to do this is to put the geometry on the outside of a cylinder/drum and have the solonoids moving axial with the motor axis (rather like many ballpoint pen mechanisms). This is not as simple to mill though.
