Wow, someone built what was loosely floating in my head. Cool. Reminds me of the concept for building houses with slipformed concrete and massive robotic gantries...

Actually, this may be the same guy. If that's true, then the video's a scale-model demonstration of what the house-building robots could do.

It isn't the same guy. Ed Allen who was at MIT at the time was the guy who did the slip-form robot study back in the early 1970's. He proposed running it with a converted "hot stick" bucket arm that you use to put linemen up to pole-mounted transformers.
